As most companies says, why should I switch to another OS if the one I have currently does the job ? We are still using 200 at my job, and we are currently migrating to Windows XP after a long testing. We will just skip Vista.
Been using it as my main OS since RC1. So it crashed sometimes. RC2 made that a lot better. Later builds haven't crashed at all (unless you use imagex to mount a WIM file read write while you have SAV 10.2 installed - that causes a BSOD, but only enterprise admins will be doing that).
Dogtown7 has got it all wrong and should be dugg down....First the INTEL GMA 950 is also one of the slowest video cards on the market, built as a the very cheap no-nonsense integrated video card for laptops. Its even slower than some of the laptop integrated cards released in late 2002 or early 2003. Practically anything faster can support Aero. I have Vista running on an old 2004 Acer that has an integrated ATI 7500 Radeon, as well as a very old Toshiba that has a slow GeForce Go back from early 2003. Secondly Aero Basic doesn't use much more processing cycles than the default theme for XP. It doesn't need to offload to the GPU and is actually pretty fast. Its called Aero Basic for a reason, its not flashy and is much plainer, its essentially a grey version of the Microsoft Zune theme available for XP. Office computers can run it without a problem.
Ok the real question is:Should I get rid of Windows XP and install the latest pirated Vista I can find? Mind you I have some old Flash card reader and an old scanner I still use, and I doubt they're gonna make new drivers for it?Windows x64 has been a nightmare for me they don't make drivers for this crap. Should I learn from this mistake and get the 32 bit version of Vista?I'm all for upgrading my OS and new features, but if I have to rebuy new peripherals each time it'll piss me off much more than a 5 fps drop in games. Even more reasons to not spend money on the OS.

I'm not using it until it's cheaper / comes preinstalled on the next computer I buy.

There are a lot of companies that expressed the same idea of skipping XP and moving up to the next thing. Guess what?
