I have to recommend WP-Gatekeeper. It's a good anti-comment-spam plugin. You write your own obvious questions and users must answer before posting a comment (similar to making users type in a weird randomly generated image, but less annoying IMO)."What color is an orange?""What is 5 3?"etc.

With regards to his second one, "Get Custom": That functionality is already built into Wordpress. No plugin needed. Just use the post_custom() function to get your metadata values out of your posts. Also, he misspelled "Akismet", but yes indeed, every Wordpress blog should use it.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

I have so far tried not to Digg my personal blog posts (so far I've only offered up 2... and then only in extreme situations) I love how my blog is going and all, but I understand why people dislike being linked to blogs. I've written up write ups at times when I thought a wordpress plug in was especially good. But I won't submit it myself. That said, thanks for the compliment. It seems I've gone through a number of plug-ins. One nice thing I'll have to say I really like about Wordpress.

I have a few that are very specialized... but I also have a number that simplify and make the blog run nice.Case in point:• The gravatar plug-in is nice because it allows commenter to personalize at little work from me.• The advanced Akismet plug-in is nice in that it automatically notes bad spammers and bunches the message for mass deletion. I'm also playing with server based IP blocking of the spammers using Akismet.• The Landing pages one is nice because I get a number of my visitors via search engines, and they can get similar articles suggested to them when they "and on the "found" page.• The extreme video one is great for embedding most videosYes I do have not priority ones like the BF2 plug-in and the Weather plug-in... but they are nice for looks and someone can gloat at my terrible bf2 stats. Over all I want to see different plug-ins not already in wordpress and bleh ones. And in some cases hey weren't compatible with the latest version of wordpress and/or wasn't really needed. (Why have 4 plug-ins when one can do the job of four?)
