dailyfueleconomytip.com — According to a recent poll, nearly four out of every five people believe that oil and gasoline companies have manipulated the supply of gas in order to cause prices to shoot through the roof. Is it still a conspiracy theory if seemingly everyone believes in it?

There is no conspiracy here. It is just the plain truth as sad as it is to say. Intrigued and want to know more? Read what Christopher Ruddy has to say.

@ aikimann & hobbersDo you work for Big Oil, or do you both just have a super hard-on for Capitalism? You may want to do a bit of investigating and research before you post next time. The Wall Street Journal, Fox News, & the evening news don't count. Check out OMB Watch. They have documents from several domestic oil companies that show the real reasons gas prices are so high today. Lastly, I find it odd that gas prices have risen more (on average) in the past 7 years (Bush Administration have been in office since 2000) than they did in the previous 30 years. Oh well, it's probably nothing. It's not like the Bush family is heavily invested in oil, or have strong ties to that industry.

I beg to differ as my concern is that any tax is a bad tax.Government enables corporations, creating a mesh of business and politics leading to corporate welfare. Yet with the issue of gasoline taxation, it's predominantly the government which is profiting. Prices could come down if they were willing to repeal taxes. They're not. People will complain about getting a fair price at the pump. It's misdirection, and in the end the price maintains a steady increase relative to what people can afford.
