If they did something like that, I'd prefer they sold them through online only or something so it didn't confuse casual gamers.I personally think I'll just buy a 20GB off ebay and fix it up.
good to see the ps3 haters have taken a break from the halo beta or wii sports to re-assert their superiority for choosing gaming console X over gaming console Y.
@jkoskiThe EE was taken out but the GS was left in. Reason being is that the BC can now be handled by emulation and can be upscaled if needed. Given sony's record with the PS2 I can believe that they are going to continue on BC until your fave titles will be able to be played. BTW isn't the compatability above 90% yet for the pal machines?
Can i stream music and video from my computer to a ps3 without having to use linux? I may get a ps3, and the HD size doesn't really matter to me if I can just stream everything.
@knightofeffect: wageslaven is a pro-MS, anti-Sony XBot troll. Spend five minutes looking through his digg profile and you'll get the picture. Love him or hate him, he's nothing if not consistent.
I already own a PS3 and am extremely satisfied with it but I have to say this is a really dumb move by Sony. First of all, the PS3 is in direct competition with the 360 and the 120GB hard-drive on the new Elite is proof of that, so why why wouldn't you make the hard-drive somewhat larger than the elites. The marketing message they are trying to get out to the consumer is that this is the most technically impressive system ever to launch, and when the consumer looks at the hard-drive size, what are they going to think? Secondly, many potential customers are going to hear of this news and think, why would I buy a 60GB version when I can get the 80GB one? So as they try to hype everyone up with the news of the new hard-drive size, Sales figures go down the drain and they loose even more money. And finally, the main idea is to sell consoles for profit, and get the console into people's homes. So in response they focus on a larger hard-drive before trying to lower the manufacturing costs? If they lower manufacturing costs then they can finally start making profit, therefore allowing them financially to focus on the compression of the hard-drive. If the manufacturing price drops, they can also drop the price tag which I can guarantee would attract many more more customers. There is nothing wrong with the PS3 it's just that Sony's public relations and business strategies are horrible.(BTW my psn is the same as my screen name for this site add me and I'll own you in Resistance)

they are decreasing prices for PS3 to compete with the demand for starcraft in korea. *sarcasm*

After the elite cratering that's probably what they'll do.
