gizmodo.com — With yesterday's refresh to Apple's iPod line, it was hard not to feel at least a little deja vu. I've been following new iPod announcements?which often come more than once a year?since 2001, when the first iPod showed up in stores for an astronomical $399.

You can't be an "early adopter" with iPods....a newer, better one is always 6 months around the corner (or less!).

Where do you get $120? It was $60 for 3 years of coverage. I literally use it every day for a good 4-6 hours while working so I was punishing that battery.I'd say I got my money's worth because I didn't have to drop $300 again.

I hear the new ones play music.

Except it added the inaccuracy of AppleTV to a chart about iPods.

Shuffles are great, as long as you're prepared to organise a playlist on your computer before you leave the house. They're pretty useless when you're away from the house for a while... unless you don't mind listening to the same songs over and over.

With a display that small, a touch screen would be pointless. Remember, the UI controls would still have to be big enough to operate comfortably with your finger. So you'd only be able to fit a few buttons on screen at once, and those would take up the majority of the available area, leaving little to no room to actually display any information. If anyone could pull off such a thing, it would be Apple, but I just don't see how that would be practical.
