"let the battery drain all the way before plugging it in....let the battery charge fully before unplugging it..."<a class="user" href="http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm">http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm</a>lithium batteries don't like being fully discharged.

My cat does that all the time... as well as my roommates. My girlfriend's Dell also seems to have some sort of plug protection... it looks like a regular laptop plug, but it comes out really easily... which is why it sucks... it comes out WAY too easily. You lift the laptop up or move it enough and the plug comes out.

I got my current laptop in May of 2007. I've had 2 batteries so far and the second is on its last legs.On the other hand, HP is willing to replace them for free if you tele-rationalize for awhile, so it could be worse. To get it, though, I had to discuss various things with the tech, periodically interrupting with "Ah, now it's down to 65%..." until he finally realized it really was dead.If it's still in warranty, you may want to see if they cover batteries. If they do, they'll probably claim it's fine until you really, really prove it isn't.

Well quoted. Is there a topic that doesn't have a suitable Simpsons quote?

I run Linux on my Netbook, not my desktop (which runs Vista). I've been using Linux for over three years on various hardware, and I've never once had to write a driver. I play games on Windows, and other software is easier to find than Windows software thanks to package managers. Then again, what am I telling you for? You're just a troll.
