I would contest this. According to the latest WoW gold prices (quick google search), each US dollar is worth 28.58 GPs. (1000GPs to every 34.99dollars)However, if you are going by the logic presented in this article, 1gp = 3.5cents, which is about the cost of 5 pieces of bread in the game, and there isn't a single place in the US you can buy that much bread for 3cents. I suppose you have to take into account what each item means personally to the buyer. If you are going by literal translation of GP to money, the dollar is stronger. Additionally, I would argue that making gold in game takes much more time, effort and hassle than actually going out and buying gold. Gold farmers get paid crap. That's how prices can be so low. I am an ex-WoW addict, and It took me quite a bit of time to farm GPs, especially larger amounts. That's why I quit!
