During my last job search I asked my girlfriend to conduct practice interviews. Since its almost like being on stage, it really helped me prepare and I had nearly memorized a script. It worked.

While a candid self-assessment and maintaining a positive outlook may seem incompatible if the job search is not going well, both are really important. Look yourself over, see what skills need upgrading, and then make sure to review and make note of the good things, too. Also, making time to exercise helps maintain a positive attitude. Even a long walk each day- fresh air! - is good.

I'm a private attorney, and I lost my job just like that. No warning! They were my only client. What am I supposed to do now? Turn tricks on the street? How much you think I can get for that, by the way? What about making out? $50, or is that just L.A.? Am I just...?

You should become a public defender. The work:pay ratio is probably a lot worse but society really needs them and you would make some lifelong friends and have steady work
