athlists.com — The chances are this will offend Americans that like soccer. It will probably piss off Americans as a whole. But regardless of anger, these 7 are the legitimate reasons soccer will never be as big as NASCAR, MLB, NFL, or NBA in the eyes of most Americans.

"but I find it incredibly difficult to get behind a sport that allows players to purposely fall on their faces when the opposition tries to steal the ball, and then get rewarded for it."I'm not going to lie, while they don't always fall on their faces this sounds like basketball, and i think you're looking at it wrong. While I'm sure most people don't prefer these players to take a dive, any advantage in soccer, through a free kick or penalty kick is an advantage. Defenders know how to approach players in risky situations, and should be aware of players who do these things an extreme amount. Also free kicks can be respites due to the fact that many players run up to 10KM a game (6.2 miles). If you nit pick this one aspect of soccer, you just don't have an appreciation for the things listed above in this dude's article. Stamina, speed, passing, ball control, these things are all incredibly hard at the pro level, and i think sometimes the true speed of the game isn't capture. The key to improving America's view on soccer is playing more of the Euro games on ESPN, and other sports networks. This year ESPN's coverage of the EURO 2008 cup was amazing. If you didn't enjoy the intensity of many of those games, and the down to the wire victories, you have no emotion.

That's right. Especially the "lack of precision" reason is pure bulls**t. If he played any real football then he'd know you can have millimeter precision football kicks, pretty much on demand. Trained players can put a football anywhere inside the goal with as much precision as you may like. Using feet to control the ball doesn't mean less precision, but it does mean more power behind the moving ball after it's been kicked.

Eh, have you ever watched any kind of sport from outside of your own country? Basically everything is covered in sponsors, it's normal.

nope one will do. American suck at soccer and get their ass handed to them by countries they've never heard of year after year so they gave up.

The funny part is that the American media messed it up so bad that the real football is called soccer I will send Valdes to them to teach them a lesson http://www.allaboutfcbarcelona.com/search/label/Va ...
