audioholics.com — "When I found out that Optoma was taking over the entry level projector market – excuse me, I mean introducing a 720p DLP projector for under $1000 – I quickly lined up a unit for review. You heard correctly, this is a 720p-native DLP projector that is debuting for $999 (street price)."

I don't know if I would call this for the first sub $1,000 native 720p projector. Since the Sanyo Z2 is native 720p and has been under $1,000 for some time now. I also don't think the Sanyo Z2 shares that claim soley either. The newer projectors coming out now though are better than the Sanyo Z2, but untill recently. For the money, it was very hard to beat!

I've got a z2 in my home theater, and for under $1,000, its hard to find anything that matches the feature set it has, i would definitely recommend it over anything you can get in the same price range
