Wow, charging that much for RAM installation? Kinda funny because I just received a RMA replacement for some bad RAM from Newegg today. I knew the RAM was bad the minute I flipped the switch and heard the POST beeps and saw the BIOS screen "stutter." I guess I take my tech knowledge for granted now but I remember a time when I took my computer to a repair shop and got bamboozled out of $85 bucks when they told me my processor had died. Then they tried to insult me for buying said processor in the first place in order to soften me up for the up-sell. The processor was replaced for FREE by the company I brought it from, but I was pissed about that $85 bucks! I vowed never again to get taken by tech people! Up that tech IQ!
programmers do not necessarily need the skills of fixing a PCcomputer science/engineering has pretty much nothing about building, repairing PCscomp sci/eng teaches more about writing software such as Operating systems, games, dev tools, office tools etc etcalso about electronics, microprocessors and stuff (i.e. CPU design, designing RAM, programming those microprocessors etc)building, fixing PCs and stuff, thats for the IT people to do
dont forget calling the comp a modemand bringing the monitor in thinking thats the computeralso the requests for a Intel Pentium Extreme Core 2 Duo Athlon CPU
thing is is that it will go back and work for them just fine for about 2-3 weeks if it comes in every month.....and they should know when they crash it because my brother who cant even plug in a usb cord knows when he crashes it......lol
Except I didn't complain. I just wondered around from desktop to desktop. Management got involved when I told them there was no way I would be able to complete a report for Council in their timeframe.
IT people are a little touchy. I didn't complain about my computer being slow. I got a blue screen of death and I knew the error meant that the hard drive was dead. The IT person that came over to check my computer confirmed as such. We use the same desktop throughout the corporation, so spare parts shouldn't have been a problem.Oddly, enough, when I couldn't complete an important report to Council on time, senior management got involved, and my computer magically appeared in a day or two.
I was nice ;) I got a blue screen of death and called up IT. They had me run through a few procedures. Nothing. They came over, checked the computer again, nothing. Based on the error, they suspected the hard drive was dead. They took the unit away. Thing is they should have been nice to me. Some of my work is time and politically sensitive. When I was unable to complete a report in a timely manner, senior management got involved. My computer appeared in a day or two after that.

programmers have the knowledge about softwares not about the hardware of the machine normally.

Yeah that's what I meant. Someone you can trust, not someone you can take advantage of.

you should go into best buy with some extra time on your hands and bombard them with questions they don't know the answer to. it's a blast.

This is a broad statement. Not all computer repair companies are bad. <a class="user" href="http://www.glitchedcomputersolutions.com" rel="nofollow">http://www.glitchedcomputersolutions.com</a>
