Actually, that can be very useful for an employer if it doesn't happen to sync with the job being offered (and I have seen that). The employer immediately learns that:A) You aren't going to be a good fit for this job.B) You are too lazy to customize your resume to the job you are applying for.

Well it doesn't hurt or loose anything if you try to keep up with this article. For me I think this is helpful insight but not absolute.
