sciam.com — In the film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, Ben Stein poses as a "rebel" willing to stand up to the scientific establishment in defense of freedom and honest, open discussion of controversial ideas like intelligent design. But Expelled has some problems of its own with honest, open presentations of the facts about evolution, ID and its own agend

TreadNotOnMe:Why do you assume that we are like this "baseball spinning clockwise while perfectly balanced on the end of a needle-pointed rock?"

The debate is over. Some people just never get the message. Can we move on to Global Warming now? Oops, the debate is over on that too.

As many documentaries do, as they did research and did more and more interviews and got more information as they went, They either A) Felt this was a more powerful topic than the original or B) thought they would get more money from the Conservatives than the Liberals.

There are any number of fine science documentaries that are more than up to the task. No need to waste money making another.

Generally, it's acceptable to say that multiple species (perhaps innumerable) of birds tried various things. Some flew north, some flew south, some flew east or west. Some didn't fly at all. The ones that made the wrong choices died off.Yes, I am simplifying that. It makes the point well enough.

You've got it backwards at the end, but always a funny one.

The skepticism is not due to a belief that God is holding the world together with love and magic, it's that the evidence for both global warming (as an acute and terminal rather than chronic and cyclical problem) and macroevolution are not compelling. For the former, the evidence is 'in the past hundred years or so the Earth has gotten warmer.' 100 (or even 200) years is nothing in geological or climatological time. It is analogous to saying, when the sun has passed behind a cloud, that it is night. Also, the evidence for that warming is questionable, as we do not have an accurate record of global temperatures earlier than 1850. ("A reconstruction is needed because a reliable surface temperature record exists only since about 1850." Wikipedia page 'Temperature_record_of_the_past_1000_years')As for macroevolution, the evidence is none. Darwin postulated that all species might have evolved from other species, IF TRANSITIONAL FORMS WERE FOUND IN THE FOSSIL RECORD. They have not been. A few dozen things that look like they might be have been found, but a few dozen is, like the 100 years above, and irrelevantly small sample. There have been trillions and trillions of living things since life has existed on Earth by anyone's estimation; one dozen from a trillion is an amount that is below measuring. Like having a ruler marked in hydrogen nuclei. It's very much not "God said this, now I'm sticking my head in the sand" for me. It is for many people, and they are foolish and stupid for doing so, and I hold them in contempt because they destroy the credibility of anyone who disbelieves macroevolution or localized global warming. But please, get off your high horse until you have some hard evidence for your belief, or admit that it is based on faith. "In a science book" is not evidence. "On CNN" is not evidence. "I hear it from everyone" is not evidence. "Kurt Loder said so" is not evidence. "TIME Magazine showed me an extrapolated graph" is not evidence. Show me recorded temperatures for the past thousand years. (Hint: you can't, thermometer hadn't been invented for most of it).Show me a rise of more than six inches per year in ocean levels for several decades.Show me a transitional form.I have no problem with believing macroevolution or global warming, neither is exclusive to my theology or cosmology. But neither has been proved well enough to convince a third grader, let alone me.

Genesis 1 Intelligence 1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Evolution: In the beginning there was Soup or maybe crystals they don’t know for sure and they defiantly can not prove it. It is a theory.God: through the Bible it has been proven through findings around the world of artifacts and things that have happened that where in the Bible proclaiming it years before. The reason evolutionist do not want to even consider ID or Creation science is because the do not want to be accountable to a God that says they are a sinner and that they will die unless they ask for forgiveness from God. And believe that Jesus died for their sins and that they will have to go to hell if they don’t.Instead of telling us how stupid it is to believe in God and that ID or Creation by God is wrong and not science. Please give us an intelligent reason why we are wrong. Maybe you could start with the Definition of science 1: the state of knowing : knowledge as distinguished from ignorance or misunderstanding2 a: a department of systematized knowledge as an object of study b: something (as a sport or technique) that may be studied or learned like systematized knowledge 3 a: knowledge or a system of knowledge covering general truths or the operation of general laws especially as obtained and tested through scientific method b: such knowledge or such a system of knowledge concerned with the physical world and its phenomena : NATURAL SCIENCE4: a system or method reconciling practical ends with scientific laws evolution is a theory. They can not prove it to be true. But God has.

Your points make sense on the surface, but they do not hold water when seriously scrutinized. Most of your arguments are debunked in in Case for a Creator by Lee Strobel. It's amazing how many God-Hating atheists we have in this Christian nation?Mr Inactive, your comment "the Judeo-Christian-Islamic God is nothing more than a man made creation." is completely true. There is no such a thing as this God you describe. The "Islamic" god is a false idle of hate and works of evil, but I'm glad, like every other God hater here, you show us your ignorance, backing up the Word of God in everything He told us! Try taking the WORLD out of what you think you believe, you'll find a god awaiting to teach you.But that wouldn't serve your selfish desires would it?
