I think #1 is laziness.If people spent as much time&effort starting a business as they do playing WoW or posting on Digg, they'd probably be successful.But it's just so much easier to goof off that most people never try.

The product/service has almost no bearing on profitability.It's the business system....and holy s**t, did you just suggest taking on a partner? That's gotta be the biggest business mistake newbies make. You need money to create a liability shield from their actions, and you have NO IDEA what kind of past they have, they could have debts that the company would have to pay down.

i have less than 5 employees, my state disagrees, i still have to pay UI, WC, all manners of insurances, SS and god knows what else.as for getting sued, do you plan to create a new business entity every time you get sued? do you know what courts will do with you if you actually do that?
