webpagepublicity.com— This site has 6500 free TrueType (TTF) fonts. These fonts are mostly fantastic. I'll be sure to use some of them!

don't underestimate the power of classic fonts. they come with your computer for a reason. many of these fonts aren't that readable. they're mostly good if you want to design an indie poster or flier for something.
Good link. I bought one of those font cd's at Best Buy once, maybe it was Staples, I dunno. Anyways about half of them were unusable, they would turn like 35 degrees to the right, and I really don't think they were supposed to look that way. It wasn't the italicized versions either. In other words, be wary when buying font cds, especially when you can get them for free on websites such as this. Also be sure to get a font manager, there are free ones, no point in having thousands installed at once. They make browsing and choosing a font easier too, than some drop down list in the program you're using.
Garbage indeed!Just because you can have 6500 fonts doesn't mean you need them! If you don't believe me, just wait and see how many you use after a month or two.
be careful if you download and install all fonts. The applications (Photoshop or Illustrator) read all the fonts when loading up. Expect a longer loading time for these applications.
I actually run a free font site called www.FontPile.com, it seriously has over 25,000 free fonts. No BS. No Ads. I collected alot of the fonts from way back then when I used to work for a software computer that licensed out the fonts. I am not trying to promote..just wanted to share since I saw this topic.

Someone already mentioned the free FontHit for windows, but for Mac users (who don't like Font Book), there is Linotype's FontExplorer X:http://www.linotype.com/fontexplorerX

I just wget'd the whole domain. easier to sort through the fonts locally than page by page on their site.
