mentalfloss.com — Sitting around watching television might not be as useless as you think. Certain shows have been remarkably accurate in their forecasts of the future. The list suggests that British TV producers are far more prophetic than their American counterparts. But that?s OK; when someone invents Warp Drive, I?ll revise the list.

Howabout West Wing, which predicted a minority Democrat from Congress winning the primary against much bigger names with a message of hope, then defeating a formerly moderate, anti-religious-zealot Republican Senator who had to take a fundamentalist as a vice president to rally the base?

One of the lone gunmen - dean haglun- went public and said CIA officers would occasionally visit and 'brainstorm' ideas and plotlines, and that this particular plot was courtesy of the CIA. its done to discredit 'conspiracy theorists' afterwards. watch the interview with dean haglund here: tinyurl.com/6yhcm3

yeah but they predicted the whole campaign and when they based it on Obama he wasn't running for president.

When we watched the Lone Gunman series on dvd, a year or so after it played, we were shocked about the "prediction" of this episode. It was definitely eerie. We sat here saying, "Oh my gosh! This was on tv before 9/11!" I think this is what killed the series. The network probably got spooked after 9/11.
