Sounds like people are talking out their asses: too many resources? Hogs**t.I have GD with sidebar running and multiple gadgets. Takes up 8 mb RAM, and now that the drive is indexed, 0% of my CPU. That doesn't take up that many resources.(for comparison: Shiretoko latest build with 6 tabs open = ~150 mb; now THAT has a considerably more significant impact on resources).This is on a Vista box.

It slows performance abominably and is actually pointless if you have Spotlight.
