Uh, how about you approve the comments before posting?Doesn't take a genius to figure that one out. Either that or just disable comments. Who gives a s**t what people have to say or think about what YOU post anyway?Look at all these people posting in here thinking WAY too hard on this one :)
this is a good list - renaming the file, referrer thing... i can tell, im a spammer myself - it will work for 99% of those comment spamming script kiddies (i dont do comment spam)
Having written the code that powers my blog, the plugins listed above won't help too much. I've pretty much eliminated all of the spam on my blog by checking:* IP numbers* Post ID (some of my old posts get more attempts than my newer ones)* HTML content* Keywords like "poker," "viagra," in the comment and author fieldsIf a post raises two or more of those flags, it doesn't make it to my site. Simple and effective, for my small blog anyway.
That works fine if you get 1 comment a day. But what if you get 150 comments a day (lets say 130 spam comments and 20 legit ones), or you going to approve all of that manually?

Here's a much easier way to stop comment spam in Wordpress. <a class="user" href="http://www.hackslash.net/?p=69">http://www.hackslash.net/?p=69</a>Since I did this for my site, spam has dwindled to almost nothing.

Did you read in the first paragraph where he says to go get akismet first. The article is about stopping comment spam before it even gets that far.

I beat all comment spam by building my blog (MT) front-end in Flash.

Because they have to do the work to stop your spam. Why put the onus of controlling your spam on them? Why can't you take care of it?
