I should point out that TechCrunch, Cnet, and Wordpress.com all use WordPress without fail. But if you mean: should a website on a budget-host used WP? Probably not.

Microsoft's "Windows Live Writer" is sadly missing from the list. For a free Microsoft product it is a surprisingly powerful tool.

I've done some work with Wordpress and found it to be a little stiff, but comparable to most of the other free platforms.
