extremetech.com — Perhaps you're on vacation and didn't feel like lugging your laptop along with you. But of course you're taking pictures. You can now clean up those photos and even do more advanced image editing from any internet caf?. A crop of web-based photo editing programs has sprouted up over the past year, mostly based on AJAX or Flash.

@takitsuYep. "It appears you've encountered an error. Though, we can't tell you the details, you're welcome to try again." Charming, but unhelpful.

"but also these image editors, and even video editors online! You're not bounded to a PC anymore"Erm, until you can upload several gigabyte files easily, online video editors won't be particularly useful (Perhaps for sites like Youtube where you can record and upload directly from a flash application it might make sense). Online image editors seem slightly easier to pull off, but still - Desktop applications will *always* have their place - Even realtivly simple things like word-processors are hard to do "right" - yes, Google Documents isn't bad, but still it's not the same as using Microsoft Word/AbiWord/OpenOffice : If nothing else, drag-drop from the computer seems pretty unreliable, it's easy to accidentally navigate away from the "application", it's no-where near as integrated as a standard word processor, and they [seem/are] a lot slower than even the slowest desktop word processor.. A problem online image editors will suffer from even worse.Although, I am currently messing around with Picnik - It's a lot better than I would have thought. Obviously it's no where near Photoshop, or even Paint Shop Pro - But for a lot of people (My parents, for example) it would do everything they'd want (Which is generally brightness/contrast, rotating and resizing).. But even still, the fact you have to upload ~3-6MB files every time you want to fiddle with an image is very inconvenient. I uploaded a ~300KB image (Of my first, 3MPx, digital camera) and even with such a small image, it was mildly annoying to wait for the upload.

Picnik and Fauxto are the better ones in there. Both Flex based.

have you tried the one from crazymenu? Here is the video - <a class="user" href="http://www.stanfy.com/?lunch_video=video-4.">http://www.stanfy.com/?lunch_video=video-4.</a> Not AJAX and not flash - applet. Has a set of cool effects and has rotations.
