americainfra.com— A monster battleship made of ice? An US army base on the moon? Flying aircraft carriers? Some of the craziest ideas ever conceived by the world's militaries.

"A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom." -Martin Luther King, Jr.
Sorry, but when teachers spend money out of their own pocket for stuff like.... oh I don't know, paper and pencils, then perhaps we should bump up the funding a tad. We can go on and on using a Jeff Foxworthy type format. If you're history books stop at World War II, then its time to buy new books (otherwise the teacher has to do it from memory, and thats when parents get pissed off because its always some revisionist history). If you're science books make no mention of what a Quark is, then its time to buy new books. The amount of money we spend on defense is obscene and not many will question it unless someone blows the whistle to report abuse and still all we'll do is question the whistle blower before we even think about asking "Gosh is spending 1,000$ on a toilet seat really worth it?". This will be followed by meetings and committees to see if it really is.
@spacem00seYou make some good, and valid, points. However, they don't reinforce the argument to spend more, they reinforce the argument to overhaul. The amount of money we spend is not the problem. It is how it is used that is the problem.Throwing even more money into a broken system will not change anything, fix the system first. Then you are in a much better position to evaluate if, and where, more money is needed.

I'm going to have to second that. It's almost like they stole a shload of ideas that didn't pan out.

Awesome. An aircraft carrier made of ice. Probably not great for touring the middle-east.

Would have bet the ice aircraft carrier was Poland's doing. It would be the perfect compliment to the chicken-wire submarine.
