downloadsquad.com — Thanks to customers who can't avoid spyware and trojans to save their lives, I've gotten pretty quick at backing up, reformatting, and finishing off Windows installs. I've got five core tools that I use to get the job done, and here they are.

Your main worry when switching to an SATA drive is AHCI. Before making the switch, head into your computer's BIOS and look for AHCI or Advanced Controller Host Interface. Windows XP will not work with AHCI without a driver hack, and you'll wind up with BSODs as soon as you try to boot into Windows. That being said, I generally recommend reinstalling Windows if you're moving to a new hard drive (system disk; just adding hard drives or swapping non-boot drives are no problem), particularly if it will reside on a different controller.

Yep, and a few MBs from RAM too. Try TinyVista Rev02 if you don't believe me.

@ TRScheel : RE : Pwn2Own ContestI love how many clueless people bring up the pwn2own without actually reading about how the hack (on day TWO, with relaxed restrictions) took place.Firstly : the prize was that you got to keep whatever machine you could target.Guess how many punters were there to target the just released Apple MacBook Air Vs how many wanted to win an average standard spec Windows laptop?Secondly, clack already says it best here :clack posted : "The guy at Pwn2Own didn't hack the Mac over the internet. He was able to hack using a crossover cable. "... but of course, desperate attempts to defend Windows security usually completely ignores this little bit of info.

RE: " I love how you extrapolated all that about me from two words. Wonderful insight."Well, those two words you posted was meant to infer that Mac OS X is just as spyware prone and riddled with security exploits as Windows. The fact that you assumed that Pwn2Own contest demonstrated this means that you had no idea about any of the actual details of what was required to exploit an Adobe Flash security hole that STILL did not actually "pwn" OS X, since the exploit was extremely limited in what it could do (and STILL required a cross-over cable to be plugged into the MacBook Air, as the exploit failed to work over a network or internet connection). Also RE : " just giving a case that Macs should stop considering themselves above the fray because frankly, they have never been. "You are partially correct here, until Apple ditched their crap OS 9 and adopted the NeXT based OS X operating system, their security was not much better than that on the Microsoft side -- however OS X is a full POSIX compliant Unix based OS, and if you think that OS X has the same security and virus issues as Windows Vista STILL HAS then you are obviously speaking from a position of no knowledge, and your opinions are hence quite idiotic.
