msnbc.msn.com — The president?s approval ratings are at their lowest point in the poll?s history?30 percent?and more than half the country (58 percent) say they wish the Bush presidency were simply over, a sentiment that is almost unanimous among Democrats, and is shared by a clear majority of independents and even one in five Republicans.

Here's why the percentage is only 58% and not 100%: <a class="user" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q566ys0sqVQ">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q566ys0sqVQ</a>That and Christians who worship to cardboard cutouts of Bush. I wish the death of every Christian on this planet. Take the Muslims and Jews with you and leave the rest of us alone while you convince your respective Gods what a great person you were on this Earth.

So if 58% of Americans want bush out, why can't they petition the government to impeach him?Oh wait.. that'd require work...............

The point of this posting was probably because the person who saw this poll thought it either was amazing that more than half the people in the U.S. dislike the president or because the poll would strike up some great debates about the whole issue that our society is facing today. Being passive about the truth that there is something wrong by saying that he will be out by 2008 will help fix problems just as much as someone who only complains about the problem and doesn't act. This presidency personally to me isn't exactly a complete failure but it is the truth that he has lied to the public many times, has support from mostly people that still rely on older methods of dealing with problems, and hasn't actually done much of anything to help America's reputation, future, or spirit. Some things are definitely going right with Bush as the president but that doesn't mean Bush was the one who helped things from collapsing. To me he is more of a lame duck dishonest president more than a failure, but who would've done a better job? I personally think that Kerry and Gore would have handled the situation a little better but that's only because I am somewhat a pacifist and liberal. In general our election process would have never helped us elect a better president even though there might have been better people out there. Now here is something you have to remember about liberals and their place in society. Our social experiments aren't bad for America, you need social experiments in order to make realizations about the world we live in and how we can make it work better. You can't just go about doing stuff the same way all the time because we evolve, grow, event, adapt, etc., but we also need conservatives to keep the system free of flaw. It is like a balance that is created between the two parties in order to advance society because of experiments/changes to the system while order is maintained at the same time. No one should be ultra-anything because both sides have to ultimately come together to create the best possible solution, which can be done if people were more dialectic about things instead of irrational and fanatic.

"Relying too heavily on opinion polls or elections is a short road to disaster when the government must determine critical policies that involve intricate financial knowledge, broad knowledge of history, economics, and foreign affairs. The general populace can be too easily misled by propaganda and ignorance of the subject."<a class="user" href="http://digg.com/political_opinion/Public_Opinion_Experts_vs_Vox_Populi_2">http://digg.com/political_opinion/Public_Opinion_Experts_vs_Vox_Populi_2</a>

Because ovbiously most people don't or Bush would be pressured out of office or charged with a crime and impeached.

Am I the only person a little puzzled by all this media driven, unceasing, unintelligent anti-Bush repetitive rhetoric?I wouldn't claim that Bush is the best president we've had, but I don't see a justification for everyone touting how much of a disaster his presidency has supposedly been. I feel the need to submit my two cents (or three):- The economy is in the 40-something week of continued growth- Unemployment is low (hasn't been lower since 1970)- With regards to Katrina, of course the government response was slower than it should have been, but also Ray Nagin and Blanco made their share of mistakes, including delaying the evacuation, allowing city buses to become flooded, and delaying the official request for federal assistance.- 9/11 started way, way before Bush - Clinton and his administration missed over a dozen opportunities to catch Bin Laden- Progress is being made in Iraq (training Iraqi forces, free elections, etc.), but the media is too slanted to report anything but "another bloody day in Iraq".- Anti-War protesters like Hanoi Jane and her crew of uninformed publicity-hungry movie stars are organizing movements resulting in defaced national monuments and people spitting at and on an Iraq Veteran.- Nancy Pelosi, Hillary, and many of the rest of the loudest of the anti-war / pro "redeploy" (abandon/cut & run) democrats supported the troop surge and are now against it (some voiced their support as recently as December).- Democrats in Congress are staging "pretend" proceedings to show their disapproval instead of actually de-funding.Give me a break - we're having 'symbolic votes' in the Congress of the United States of America?! If you ask me, the only reason this makes sense is because they're afraid to actually cut funding because they know what will happen. An unstable Iraq will be taken over by terrorists, creating a safe haven for these madmen, and we're going to get sucked back into it anyway, with an unimaginable cost in the form of slain soldiers and slaughtered civilians.Sure, the war hasn't gone well. And everyone wanted a new direction and a new direction has been proposed. Everyone wants the troops to come home and here is a plan that will accomplish exactly that, through the only means that it can successfully happen: An Iraq with the ability to handle it's own security. You can debate all day about the mistakes that have been made, the hard, cold fact is that we're there.Thank God we have a president in Washington with the resolve to stand by what he believes, and I respect him for that, if nothing else.

The thing that made me loose all respect for bush is the video of when 9/11 is happening and hes in a classroom. A secret service guy comes up to him and tells him that the country is being attacked by terrorists. He just sits there, does nothing, but you can tell hes thinking "Oh, s**t. What should I do." Hes a bad leader, period

THANK YOU! It doesn't matter who's in office everyone will bitch and moan about them anyways. Media focuses only on the negatives simply because it brings in better ratings. Almost all news is bad!

What was he supposed to do? Jump up and scream? Start crying? What would that accomplish? He avoided a panic and calmly finished the STORY HE WAS READING TO THE CHILDREN. He most certainly immediately consulted with his staff, who were already taking action and planning our response.Feel free to reinsert your head into your nether region.
