immense-world.blogspot.com— If you knew that 10 percent of all human beings ever born are alive at this very moment, this might not be the list for. For the rest us, this can be an interesting read.

As someone who's doing a PhD in Astronomy, it's pretty certain that the universe is expanding. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universe_expansionEvery galaxy is moving away from us and each other (except andromeda which is on collision course) because the "space" in between is expanding. There are many, many different types of observations that confirm that this is the case. Some of the more important are mentioned on the wiki,
The sun does flicker.. it's called day and night :)The earths circumference at the equator is 25,000 miles. Since its so big it takes 24h at 1070 mph to see the sun "flicker".
@axel2k: "A few things I noticed..."For the crime of critical thinking and not believing everything you read on the Internet (It says FACTS right there in the title) I hereby revoke you Internet privileges. Go back to reading those "books" or whatever it is you people do.

actually, there's a growing body of evidence that suggests that the moon was formed after a planet the size of mars collided with the young earth. in a sense they really could have been created at the same time given that the collision broke off chunks of both planets and gave earth the dimensions that it has today, thereby creating a "new" earth. the other planet broke off just enough to be captured by this new earth's gravity, and is known as the moon today.http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/solarsystem/moon_making_010815-1.html
