money.cnn.com— Using a special additive or cutting off your A/C won't really cut your gasoline consumption. But myths like these run rampant in the minds of American drivers

">> 50+mpg Prius. If you have an all-highway commute to work a Prius isn't going to do very much for you. You do know that the most cost saving part of a Prius is city driving, right? Otherwise you're just lugging around a 2900lb car with a 1.5L engine."You f**king dumbass, of course HE and EVERYONE knows that. They still get close to 50 MPG on highway. I got close to 48 MPG on my trip to and from San Francisco just the other Saturday. Even then you're saving a TON of more gas than a regular car. How much do conventional cars get on the highway? Half of that?I'm sick of uneducated f**ks bashing the Prius.
@ hdtvdust:some cars actually have monitors that tell you what your gas mileage is. my first car, a 1985 bmw 325e, had a nice little computer in the dash that told me my current gas mileage, my gas mileage over a certain period of time, how much further i could travel on the amount of gas left in my tank, and the temperature outside. the computer wasn't entirely correct, however. once i ran out of gas on the freeway about a mile from exiting and hitting a gas station, when the computer told me i had 13 miles left. i bet the computer was silently laughing at me.
Interesting article, I posted it over on my car forum for discussion.I drive a 1992 w201 190e 2.6 Mercedes that has KE3-jetronics fuel injection Continuous Injection System (CIS) .being 15 years old, my car does not fall under many of these so called facts/myths debunked in this CNN article. A/C on or windows down, windows down saves me 1-2 hp, torque and mpg. Additives like SeaFoam, after it's been ran through the tank or crankcase before an oil change, Saves Gas/increases mpg. Turning this car off is not feasible for 30 second stops, putting it into neutral does save gas because of it's pre 95'-96' transmission, rwd, and torque converter. Waiting til' Wednesday here in Indianapolis has saved 15-20 cent the last three wednesdays (I'm a daily commuter of about 20 blocks going by 3 Shell stations along the way) , possibly a coincidence... I don't know.Driving 70mph gets me better mpg than 50-55 , but that's all due to gearing in the AT .... I assume it's meant for AutoBahn speeds because I really don't see a reduction until hitting 80-85mph on a long highway stretch. My 06' Si is a completely different story, apples and oranges. I wish the article would've pointed out discrepancies and strongly emphasize that technology has made the myth they pointed out, debunked for the most part.

@nardukMaybe collusion/corruption has something to do with it, or maybe Saudi Arabian Mega-Estates have something to do with it.

You should use home delivery services offered by these companies for infrequent shopping trips.

Amazingly there are people that actually haul stuff with their vehicles. Power isn't just for speed.
