chsalmon.club.fr — Yod?m allows you to run four different desktops at once, and flick between them at will. Put simply, it turns your desktop into a cube, which can be rotated with the mouse, holding different aspects of your work on each side.

I tried the windows powertoys multi-desktops, and really tried to make it work. The problem was that one or two of the desktops would vanish from the list, even though the apps on them were still up and running (albeit hidden from sight). It's probably because I never turn my PC off, so I notice these things more than people who reboot fresh every day or two. I'll try this new one and see how it goes.

A little to slow for me, maybe if I upgraded I'd use it. Even still, I can't really think of an appropriate use for this application.

No lag here - runs well

@dogparty: With a transparent cube, that's how. Also, besides Expose (which Beryl has) and Spaces (which Beryl will soon have, probably before OS X does), which of OS X's effects are functional? I'm not disputing that OS X looks nice, because it certainly does. However, I'm not sure why its effects are more functional than Beryl's.

I'm running this on an XP Pro laptop with 2GB of memory and it eats up about 36MB when resident.

These all lack the polish of Quartz and in yodm3d lacks the live previews

Being a programmer/hacker of window's software applications, I find that this could not be useful other than to be used in a presentation to fascinate a computer illiterate client. It appears impressive at first, but it too has limitations, bugs, restrictions & uses up the critical user-computer resources. Eating up processor & memory resources that could be used for "real" hardware & software needs. It is just another distraction & complication for the real end user to confuse them-self with.If you use your computer to experiment & play with then it maybe a possible software need. If you use your computer for work, data processing, CAD/Engineering, or real software programming, then this would be a waste of time to install.
