I always thought Firefox was slow, even without extensions. I found IE faster. I never got the love for Firefox. Chrome is great though, quick and a simple layout. I like it.
Who cares about snobs that make up 5-6% marketshare and half of them don't understand the meaning of the word 'browser'. If google wants to capture the market, Windows is the only way to go.
The single greatest problem with Chrome remains that it is developed and managed by the largest and most successful data gathering/mining company in history, and not one with a good history of protecting users privacy. I just don't trust it.
Innovation. Why do you need Opera when you have IE? Why Firefox when you have Opera? Why Chrome when you have Firefox? Each browser provides something for each different market and pushes the others forward. I had the luxury of sitting in on a panel discussion between the product managers of Opera, Firefox, and Chrome (the IE guy didn't show) and each talked about the importance of the others and working together.Chrome does not suck and the reason is because it's had the luxury of Firefox and Opera finding the way. For Chrome they can take the lessons of both of those and work towards the best browser yet. Individual processes per page, an easy to use and maintain plugin system (the plugins are going to be all html, js, and css), full spec support (thanks webkit), a clean interface (opinion here, some love some hate) are all what make Chrome a good browser. Use whatever you like though, the rest don't matter much.
