"if you can make someting boring become interesting then you've done something."To me that's only half of being a designer. To me a design fails if it supercedes the content it is presenting. Like the dearth of "logos" cluttering the internet which "look cool" but are hard to read, hard to apply to a variety of media, hard to scale, etc. It's design for the sake of design, not design for the sake of communication.I'm hard pressed to pick out more than 5 of these that really succeeds at not only making the boring interesting, but communicating clearly and transparently.

Amen. I don't turn to TOCs for artistic enlightenment, I turn to them so I can quickly and easily find the information I want. A lot of the "examples with leaders" were good, but they weren't especially creative.
