This designer agrees too. While many of these designs are interesting, they would be seen once, and probably never again because they wouldn't fit in a standard rolodex, which means they end up in the trash. What's more important, making a big theatrical first impression, or making an impression over and over again with a good design that works within the parameters of standards? A lot of new designers forget that "design" is working WITHIN constraints and doing the most you can within them by thinking creatively. Art is making your own constraints and doing whatever the hell you want to within them. There's a difference being a designer and an artist. Plus, who can afford to pay for cards like that? A wise business owner wouldn't even want to invest that much in a business card, which is essentially disposable. There are more important things, like your web site, IT infrastructure, employees, etc. The rubber band one is the worst...how the hell are you supposed to dial the phone when you need to use both of your hands to read the damn number? Not very well thought out.
