This is why I subscribe to EGM. Whenever I look at a different magazine the scores feel inflated to me most of the time when this happens it's Game Informer (although they sometimes have great previews).
Friends of mine (that don't even check reviews) have all pretty much enjoyed Assassin's creed.. I myself haven't tried it yet but im still excited about playing it even if I've read reviews and a bunch of digg users dissing it... yes i know alot of people are saying its crap bla bla bla.. but i also think that these would have to do with the reviews also.. people read the reviews, which points out all the flaws (thats fine, its a review) but i think some put too much weight into them.. and then dont buy the game.. or they focus all their attention to flaws without giving the "Pros" a chance.. You know how sometimes the reviews are way overhyped.. Well i think it works both ways, some reviewers really are assh**es and can't appreciate much.. almost bitter about some games.. It doesn't matter where it comes from, a review will almost always be an opinion from THAT persons point of view.. and people give them too much weight.. whether its way too high, or way to harsh where the game still deserves a play..
Many kudos to EGM. They are indeed luminaries of the of the gaming press. Everyone should commend them for a job well done. Ubisoft, Sony Sports, and Midway should all be ashamed of themselves. This will only hurt them more in the long term rather than had they just kept quiet and taken the bad reviews like men, er....conscientious companies.

Unless its a robot review the game.. it'll never really be truly objective.
