I thought they probably used 3D Scanning, and then projection mapping on the surface of the model in the 3D app, but in the scene you place the lights with the projection map in the same place as the Projectors, it looks like the cameras can be anywhere as can the viewers, and as previously posted, perhaps there is some kind of distortion applied?
Someone did something slightly similar to this for a huge party in downtown Los Angeles about 10 years ago.They took photos of the buildings and projected the still images back onto the buildings at night, but moved them slowly back and forth to make it look like the buildings were moving and swaying. I thought that was amazing at the time, but it doesn't even compare to this.
