boston.com — The volcano continues to rumble and hurl ash skyward, if at a slightly diminished rate now, as the dispersing ash plume has dropped closer to the ground, and the World Health Organization has issued a health warning to Europeans with respiratory conditions. Collected here are some images from Iceland over the past few days.

Yes! It likes long walks on the beach, the soothing sounds of smooth jazz, pasta is it's favorite dish, and it is looking for stability in a mate...

You see, in different parts of the world, people speak different languages. Before globalization, "San Francisco, California" probably would have looked just as foreign to a resident of Iceland as the volcano's name looks to you. It's more syllables, too.

Not to mention, European air traffic emits more CO2 per day than this volcano. So while the economy is that much more porked...there's been less CO2 emitted this month than there would have been had the volcano not erupted.

What's up with them is a strange phenomenon called "not English". You'd be amazed how much of that's around.

"A car is seen driving near Kirkjubaejarklaustur......"Really? REALLY? I know English isn't the most efficient language but come on....
