Well, thank god they're using a supercomputer for this instead of finding the answers to complex problems in mathematics or physics, or finding a cure for cancer.

I'm not sure if you are trolling or not, but I just scanned through the article and getting this application to work required some advanced research in mathematics, primarily in the realms of computer vision and content analysis. Just because the results don't seem to be very "advanced" doesn't mean that there is a lot of work involved that can be used for many different problems.
