Half of these supposedly "old" logos are still in use by these companies today. Companies sometimes just have several logos. This article is stupid.

The ones that stood out as exceptionally bad were those that required a specific color background. Oh and those with excessive 3d/emboss effects. No emboss doesn't magically make something cool.

That's exactly right. I agree.But I got to and it to Animal Planet. Something as simple as a sideways "M" completely makes you different from the pack immediately.
