pesn.com— They plan to sell a revolutionary hybrid two-seater car that they say can get up to 330 miles per gallon, and will sell for under $20,000.

Aparently the designers don't understand that people don't want to drive something "like nothing you've ever seen"; People want to drive something that looks just like everything else.
Why do designers waste their time making these "super-futuristic" prototypes? How many of these retarded spacepod designs have we seen and how many have been produced? The ratio is roughly 1,000,000:0.
I love America... we won't buy a superior product unless it has a billion dollar ad campaign telling us it's cool looking. Has anyone actually looked at half the cars now days? *cough* SUVs *cough* Talk about fugly and they don't even have good gas mileage. Anyone who rejects this car because of looks is the same as the people double parking their hummer at grocery store. Foolish, gullible, and killing polar bears. 330mpg? Looks based on math and efficiency instead of an ad campaign and celebrity endorsements? I digg it.
I'll believe this when I see one running. Even if they actually made the car, I really really really doubt it'd go for under $20,000. Too sensational to be true.
i like the idea that if it fails, we can say "aptera... more like the CRAPTERA!!!"that was really not a lot of thinking ahead on their part. they may as well have named it the Etard.(no offense no offense)
Cars like this exist. But big oil companies with lots of money and influence on car dealerships don't like them. Oil companies also have influence with the United States government (ahem George Bush), so alternative fuel has very little funding.

Who cares what it looks like if it gets 330MPG?! Do I have to point out that that's a 10-15 fold increase from what we get now? I bet all of you who deride it as ugly would be first in line for one if gas were $7 a gallon or more.rnrnAnd it may come to that -- http://lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/ , rnunless Randell Mills can save us all -- http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/story/0,3605,1627424,00.html

The 3rd pic below the headline shows why it's able to get 330mpg -- you turn the key every other mile.

Biodiesel is a good alternative for those who don't want hybrid cars. These sites can shed some light to the issues:http://www.biodieselathome.nethttp://www.hybridcarsmoney.com
