techradar.com — We all want our Macs to be labour-saving rather than labour-causing devices. Yet, even if you've been using a Mac for a long time, the thought, "There has to be a better of way of doing this," will probably come to mind on a daily basis.

Actually, Apple developers are treating Safari 4 as a beta. Meaning, steps to fix the current lag issues. This has trickled down from a meeting:Now this information comes from a very reliable source, a friend of mine, some of you may know him as The_Raven, is working for Apple's software development team and he told me this:Apple is aware of the lagging issues, the Safari lag is due to it's new nitro java engine, which seems to conflict with some other system files or applications, even on my Alu 3,06 GHz iMac, Safari 4.02 & Mac OS X lagged as hell, typical symptoms are, browser starts lagging (after awhile) when user runs multiple programs and Safari is hidden in the background. Believe it or not, but the slowness of your system is most likely caused by Safari 4. I followed his advice and downgraded to Safari 3 and ever since my system has been running fine! Strangely enough, not all Safari 4 users are affected, but it is not just a random few who are having problems. It's more like fifty/fifty.Like a friend of mine, had the same issues, and they occurred after he installed speed download. Raven advised him to remove speed download and keep on eye on his system performance for awhile, and guess what? The system has been running perfectly ever since, so in case you are using speed download, I suggest you either to upgrade to the latest available version (which may fix your problem) or maybe try a different download manager instead.According to what he has told me, Safari 4 has been made available for Mac OS 10.5 but internally Apple is still treating the new Safari browser like a beta version. They are working on resolving the issue though..

I have to hand it to some of the mac shortcuts though...it was much easier to hit apple+[whatever key] over ctrl+[whatever key equivalent in windows] for certain processes. ex. Apple+Q vs ctrl+F4, copy, paste, etc...

Apple + Q and Apple + W are easier, but as someone with generally large hands, I don't like Apple + C / V for copy paste. It's too cramped for me, especially after being used to CTRL + C / V for so long.
