forums.2kgames.com — The posts grow on 2k Games' Bioshock tech support forum. The general consensus? "We are pissed" Widespread PC versions of Bioshock have left gamer's with the inability to start the game, play it for more than a few hours (random desktop crashes), and even random reboot crashes (game crashes and system hard reboots itself). Did 2k know about this?

that 3 in the emoticon is either a really funky moustache or a tiny pair of balls.

mhmm agreed. I spend about 1500 on my computers, over a 5 year period.$300 a year isn't bad, considering that software and games are 'free'.

Aghaghahhl1kjasfljka!!!Ok so.... I've downloaded the hotfix that Nvidia now has on their webpage along with both the beta and the live drivers for Vista 32bit.The hotfix worked but when I try to install either of the drivers I get to where the fullscreen Nvidia install screen comes up and I get an error. "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit"The drivers that I DL'd are 163.44_forceware_winvista_32bit_english_beta and 162.22_forceware_winvista_32bit_english_whql.I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT. Any suggestions?

I think everyone is missing the real problem here. The real issue is that the unreal engines suck my balls. The graphics are great but they have compatibility issues with every game they have ever been released with. If you're playing bio shock and you have zero trouble than gratz to you... you either have a super beefy PC or you are one of the lucky ones that got a solid copy of the game. For those of us that are having trouble... i went into the msconfig app and turned off all the ms running processes. After that i was still having trouble so i turned off the shader... It ran great after that but i had to turn the graphics down as low as they would go just to play it smoothly. It was running fine until the second level. Now it crashes every time i try to load my saved game in that lvl. I could prolly make it work.. but i just don't give a flip anymore. Not worth my time. Great game but the engine sucks(come to think of it i had the same trouble with double agent.. hmm). I can play oblivion on my pc with the graphics on high with barely any lag...beat it and all the expansions. no bugs. no bugs on any of my other games for that matter. I use XP. no more pc gaming for me... im straight console from here on. I shouldnt have to tweak my system for every game I buy now... but thats pc gaming now adays.

A simple fix aided me.Go into the BioShock install directory, there will be a folder called 'directx'. Go in there and update ur DirectX.Also update your Microsoft Visual C++ and if you are on Vista then run in a Win XPSP2 compatibility mode and 'Run as Administrator'.One another fix for Vista Sound Problems is to go into ControlPanel > Sound and Hardware > Sound > recording Tab > Right Click and click on 'Show Disabled Devices > Enable Steroe Mix by right clicking on it.I think that this might help. :)
