Apple doesn't get any of your monthly bills anymore. The problem is there is no free bluetooth enabler so it is held at ransom. It's pretty easy to understand. If you want to use the hardware you paid for already it's going to cost you another $10, doesn't matter if you want the extra software features or not. Also no one is pointing out that new apps will almost certainly require the 3.0 update meaning touch owners will have to shell out the $10 to use the app store (an advertised feature) whether they really want it or not. /iPhone 3G owner.
Don't know why I bother, but for 10$ you're buying a major OS release that apparently now supports a hidden feature. For 10$ you can't even burgerdate ya b*tch! If you're really have such a hard time getting over this, drop by and wash my car, I'll give you the frigging upgrade.
I don't think they should be charging for OS upgrades, but atleast they brought the price from $20 to $10. I don't think people should really be complaining about the $10 upgrades. Sure as an iPhone user I get OS 3.0 for free, but don't forget I'm also paying $30 a month on top of my regular phone plan just to use the same features iPod Touch users get to use.
Really? The iPhone certainly doesn't cost $199 to buy from AT&T out of the goodness of their heart. It may not be direct revenue sharing per month, but all cell phone customers most certainly pay for the TRUE cost of their phone over the lifetime of their 2-year agreement. Why else do you think non-commitment prices are so high?
No, you dont pay for them thru your phone bills. AT&T pays apple $3/per user per month, its $72 over the life of the contract, and you paid less for the device to begin with. If you add the price you paid plus that small monthly fee apple gets, you'd still pay less than you paid for the iphone, and you get a free update? You are getting raped every month by AT&T alone, and last time i checked AT&T wasn't the one putting out the OS update
What were you going to do with your bluetooth on the touch?? Until now there was no software to use with it. But now you can have stereo bluetooth and transfers. Before you could what? have an icon?
LoL, I still have a working 1st gen firewire ipod works fantastic after a battery install i did. Just got a ipod touch 2nd gen 16gig refurb from new egg last week $239 & love it. Yea, paying for bluetooth or "the 3.0 feature set" sucks but I will be happy with the TCO and overall usefulness of my new itouch with bluetooth. I'm giddy just thinking about some of the future apps could add like external GPS and routing both ways.
no... you're paying 30 bucks extra a month so you can talk and use 3G on your iphone. Cut your service, THEN you'll have the same features as an iPod touch.
