You can never have enough RAM or HD space. Nature of the beast for enthusiast users. Whether it's worth the extra cost is a totally different question.
The fact that the article is smothered in advertisements for RAM on the top, sides and bottom and sometimes throughout, makes me question the integrity of the article. How can anyone think they have unbiased results? The simple truth is that my system which is about 3 years old (pentium 4 2.3 ghz with 512mb ram and 128 mb radeon 9700) still plays modern games pretty well. Doom 3, world of warcraft, were the last ones I tried. WoW can be run comfortably with most of the settings on high, and Doom 3 can be run comfortably with most of the settings on medium. These sites try and paint the average gamer as having a super great top of the line system and its just not true. The ability to run a game on the highest settings can create the occasional "wow moment" but a fun game is going to be fun with or without super high resolution.
ram ram ram. buy more ram. it really makes a difference. i have 2gigs now gonna ad another gig soon.all my apps load faster plus games load fast and don't hang up. if you see your games hanging up it's probley your graphics card. invest in a new one. a nice cheap one is a 6800 nivida card with 256 megs of ddr 3. games good. its aviable in agp or pci express

2 gigs is worth getting, considering how cheap it has become compared to 5 years ago...
