Dugg... Bell offers $30/month unlimited data. Telus offers $30/month unlimited data. Just about every carrier in the civilized world, iPhone or not, offers $30/month unlimited data. Rogers thinks they can buck the trend because Steve made a pretty phone which only Rogers can sell.Rogers is about to learn a hard lesson in how much Canadians love comparison shopping.
its actually making headline news in papers and on tv. Go Canada. We don't take s**t from our Big Corporations. FYI Rogers has about a 80-90% monopoly over the cell phone market here.
Are there maps available showing hotspot locations? It seems like a bit of a farce to rely on these to save a few bucks on a bulls**t plan. Rogers knows this and loves it when silly consumer like yourself playinto their hand by trumpeting the utility of a f**king hotspot that no one knows exists (outside of a Starbucks-area WiFi).
You bunch of crybabies. Why hasn't anyone complained about this before, Rogers has been shafting everyone who does not own a crackberry but would like data on their phone for YEARS. But now that there is an IPhone in Canada.... OMG IPHONE FAP FAP FAP...... it matters. Vote with your wallet. Go Telus/Bell for cheapo (albeit CDMA 3G) data, or wait till June for a completely new carrier (hopefully GSM) to come.
Actually Rogers was the first to carry RIM products, of all the Canadian providers they have the closest partnership with RIM. Not surprisingly, Rogers' Blackberry plans are lower than those of other providers but also lower than the iPhone. Why do these two smart-phone products have different price points in their respective plans?"Crybabies" or not, the points being made are valid, Rogers Communications Inc. is screwing the Canadian cellphone marketplace. Due to the GSM monopoly Rogers has in Canada the only thing people can to is not buy their product. The iPhone IS the best smart-phone in the marketplace currently so it is acting as a catalyst for this complaint against Rogers.
From the site:"Breaking News:Oilchange.com has acquired ruinediphone.com. Oilchange.com is going to do their part to help Canadian cell phone users. Check back frequently for updates."What the f**k is that?Abrupt credibility drop for the win....
hmmm lemme surf the web while I pick up "physical" medias ...... if Rogers put as much effort into improving their Data networks, they wouldn't need archaic video stores and can provide decent movies over their networks.
Between traffic shapping/throttling, lousy cell phone rate plans, and now this .... I'm glad I don't feed a single penny into the Rogers coffers.I suggest everyone 'diversify' their communication/entertainment consumption to spur more competition .... who cares about 'Rogers One Bill'? .. Pay 3 or 4 to different companies so a situation like THIS doesn't happen again!
Well, if they HAD no customers, obviously something would HAVE to change. Now that's obviously not going to happen, but there's, what, 35000 signatures now? That's pretty significant. 0.1% of Canada's population right there, which is huge when you look at the percentage of Canadians who are Rogers customers.
RIM has publicly stated that they want lower data rates from Rogers to further their market penetration. They've also seen the iPhone increase RIM sales as its helping the entire smartphone market. Rogers is simply charging rates as high as they think they can for maximum profit, that's all!
