Question: How many times has msaleem submitted the same drivel, just in a different format? Digg is garbage because of overactive users like you, msaleem. Get a life.
I feel the same way as you, AdonisEffect. Just as a quick example, when I have a headache I drink water since the headache is almost always due to dehydration. Things are discomforting because something is wrong. Fix what is wrong, don't mask the pain.
While I see the validity from both yourself and AdonisEffect I still have to disagree with you. While it would be wonderful to treat every cause of every psychological problem one might have, the time commitment and cost to do so would be massive. in your example, you would first have had to figure out that the dehydration was what was causing your headache before you ever even treated it. So while you were discovering that dehydration as opposed to say a brain tumor was causing your headache, you would still be experiencing the symptom of the pain. For someone with social anxiety, phobia of dogs, intimacy issues, etc the patient could begin living a normal life by treating the symptoms rather than spending a decade trying to resolve the cause that is buried in the past that cannot be changed anyway. Not to mention the fact that it may not be possible to ever figure out a cut or dry solution. And if the headache was caused by an incurable, unchangeable cause then it would certainly make more sense to treat the pain then wouldn't it?

I balance my lack of self-confidence with an overabundance of arrogance.
