Ridiculous, these 22,000 people can be anyone. All you have to do is print a copy of the petition, put a name, address, and degree down. It's actually kind of funny - they accept petitions from anyone, even if they've only got a B.S. Hell, they have DENTISTS on that petition. Give me a break. Try googling random names to see what you find - it's pretty hilarious. And look into Arthur Robinson - this is the same guy who supports the petition that says EVOLUTION is false. He's a crazy old man, who advocates homeschooling children so they're not exposed to the "socialist" propaganda of the public school system. Find out more about his "institute" here: <a class="user" href="http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Oregon_Institute_of_Science_and_Medicine">http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Oregon_ ...</a>
Economics has much to do with it. Just consider the "inspection and maintenance programs" (tail pipe sniffing): It encourages everyone to buy a new car every three years as the warranty runs out. No one talks about the cost to the environment of mining, refining, manufacturing, and transporting new cars (from all over the globe) in relation to amounts of pollution from just keeping your old one. But "what's good for GM is good for America" and most of the environmental burden is placed upon the 'third world' peoples anyways.
As a chemist, you certainly have a very important part to say. Consider albedo and the reflectivity of sulfur dioxide and other aerosols in the upper atmosphere (Lots of it sometimes comes from volcanoes. Remember Pinatubo?) Consider titration of elements by others at given pressures (elevations) and interaction with light. Consider how warming or cooling changes water vapor. Hell, consider how long you would have to fart to equal the energy output of the Hiroshima bomb (6.5 yrs continuous). Are you an expert on the whole issue? No one is. But the complex problems of climate can't be grasped without the chemists. Don't even get me started on biology and climate!; I'll just remind the reader that there are serious considerations of "terraforming" Mars through biology. Climate can not be seen as one part of anything. It is everything in interaction; It is a system just as any 'living' organism. Y'all like to say "mother earth" right?
Again, it would be great if we could help the earth to warm. It has not yet recovered from the mini ice age which started about 1400. Agricultural productivity has been diminished since then. Warming will bring about a new age of plenty. warming is nothing to fear, although it is entirely obvious that we have no influence whatsoever on temperatures.
I'm all for taking care of our natural resources, just so I can breathe clean air, drink clean water and what not. But I've been doing what true progressives do, monitoring the argument over global warming and educating myself by examining patterns in weather and temperatures while looking into things like solar storms, solar flares, a scientific belief that there is a wobble in Earth's orbid, among other things.I know, corporate and other interests are banking on both sides of this argument. This includes share holders that invested in industries affected by either side, including Hillary Clinton, who invested a portion of her own wealth in an alternative energy source.Did you know, the Arctic and Antarctic have seasons?
The religion of "don't burn so much gas lest it melt the ice and Antarctica and Greenland be uncovered as pristine unpolluted real estate". Evolutionists, turn to God already.
Argues with rising sea levels, "Sea levels, where are you? I don't see you rising! How dare you not let me see you rise! Cool, is that new land in Antarctica and Greenland I see? KEWL! NEW UNPOLLUTED UP FOR GRABS REAL ESTATE! NO MORE HAVING TO PAY 19,000 FOR A DECENT ACRE!"bye

Regardless of the 22,000.... the article is a very good read. Funny how nobody will digg on this...

I hate the digg comment system. The 'sun link' comment was supposed to be a direct reply to Observant1's insightful observations.

Amazing how people are always looking to discredit someone who goes against the popular spin of the day. The gentleman who started the weather channel also agrees that Global warming is a farce. He has interviewed and talked to many different scientists regarding it. Al Gore is becoming wealthy being an evangelist for global warming. If he is so concerned why does he not donate every penny to fighting it and feeding the poor instead of capitalizing on it? <a class="user" href="http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2007/11/07/weather-channel-founder-global-warming-greatest-scam-history">http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2007/11 ...</a>
