After he sits in the chair at Recall it's all a dream and in the end he gets lobotomised. It's the bit in the hotel room that seals the deal for me. The fat doctor guy tries to convince Arnie he's still at Recall. Arnie doesn't believe him. He says something like, I could shoot you in the head and it wouldn't matter. The doctor replies saying without him to guide Arnie out, the walls of reality will come crashing down. One minute he'll be the rebel hero, the next he'll be Cohaagens' bosom buddy.And what happens next? He shoots the guy, the walls get blown up, he gets rescued by the rebels and meets Kuato to discover he's their only hope, then gets captured and told he's actually Howser... Cohaagen's bosom buddy...
