Something I am using is called AutoPilot. I own a tivo and this converts any tv show/movie that you have on your tivo, strips out the commercials and puts it into iPod format. Actually, it can put it on your cell phone or a psp and more. It is very versatile. Very sweet tool, I've done a lot with it since I got my iPod. It will also put a firefox extension on your machine and allow you to convert google or youtube clips into iPod format as well....I think it is the BEST!!Link:http://www.tvharmony.com/blog/archives/2005/10/autopilot_tivo.html
@jblanchwhen I first bought my 60gb iPod in Dec. '05, I used iTunes for windows and it froze up daily. But when I got a iMac a couple of months later and moved all of my music to it, my iPod did not freeze up anymore. I guess when I rrestored it on a mac the problem was fixed. If you are using a PC that may be the problem.
guys could anyone recommend the best app for converting video '.avi' files to an ipod size , something free preferably, for OSX with decent enough interface
This is my experience with a 5.5gen ipod and anapod 8.9.9.The first problem I observed was that you can only upload videos as music videos! This should not be such a big problem, right? I can still use iTunes to copy the video files. Well, the thing is that anapod changes the ipod's database in such a way that iTunes has to search for some "gapless information" on all the music files on the ipod each time after anapod transfers files to the ipod.Anapod had some tools to "fix" the media database on the ipod. The only effect was that the music files appear twice in iTunes.I wrote the customer support more than a month ago, but I got no answer.Instead of offering a solid piece of software, they offer a crappy one, with features you'll probably never use, like accessing the ipod files through a web interface.
