motorauthority.com — The 2011 Ford Mustang GT is getting some major upgrades this year, including a new 5.0-liter 412-horsepower engine, and that's enough to make it the pick for the pace car of the 2010 Daytona 500. It is the first Ford car picked to pace the race in 40 years.

How much do you think a pace car driver gets paid to lead other cars around in a circle?Glad to see the 4.6 bite the dust (for now), but the car will still weigh a metric f**kton. 412 horses might not be enough to tow the weight around very fast, a lot like the Challenger.

It'll beat the Camaro as well as the Challenger in weight, the latter by quite a margin.

You've got to give props to Ford for the HP upgrade but then again they only did it because the V6 Camaro was putting out almost as much power as the Mustang GT ;) Competition is good for everyone :) Maybe the price of the Camaros will come down just a bit.

The new C&D has the V6 model trouncing the V6 Camaro, and though the 5.0L was slightly slower through the quarter mile than the Camaro SS, it still won the comparison. yes, the new Stang is a beast.
