Keeping something in beta is a very interesting philosophy, and one that (with Google at least) completely support. Think about it, if something is forever in beta, that means it's never finished, that it is constantly being improved (which is much more than i can say for most companies out there). All hail Google!
Yahoo is not more intuitive. haha WTF? Yahoo is much more CLUTTERED, that's for sure. Gmail is clean and simple....and finally has labels so I don't have to use GreaseMonkey anymore. Yahoo is crap.
i've had the same experience. I think Google's strategy is sound. The only way to defeat inertia/incumbent services is to not only offer a better service but group it with other services. A Google Account has become an almost Citizen ID. Docs, spreadsheet, gmail, gbuy, etc. Most people who use internet heavily for productivity will prolly have main gmail accounts. But converting people to gmail only works for people who actually use email a lot. These days, young people sms and old people use young people to sms.
