@andcal, @boardo, I wish you worked in my hospital's IT department. In most hospitals, there are only a handful of apps (many of which are web-based) that employees need to access from all the Windows terminals sprinkled all over the place. A user should never be installing anything on these types of systems, because it's failrly important that they stay up and running and not bogged down with apps and processes that have nothing to do with the work einvironment. Most of the terminals should be dumb as rocks, in my opinion. But since I'm not on the IT committee (I'd sign up, but I really hate meetings, so that makes me part of the problem, right?), my opinions don't matter much.More I think about it, since I (think I) know more about systems administration than most of these IT guys, maybe I need to push for one of their jobs. Then I'd be freed of call duties, drug seeking patients, and liability concerns. Woo-hoo! IT, here I come.
