joystiq.com— In order to kick start the 2007 Holiday season early and to spur Xbox 360 sales, several sources are confirming a September release for Halo 3.

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this way, but I don't think that Halo 3 is going to move as many systems as people keep thinking it will. I think that we already saw the huge surge when Gears of War launched on the system. There are probably a few more people holding out for Halo 3, but I think the vast majority were already pulled in by Gears of War. If they coupled the launch of Halo 3 with a price drop it would probably create a huge splash, but I don't really forsee them doing that either since they just started turning a profit from the Xbox 360, and even though Microsoft has deep pockets, I don't think they want to throw money down the drain any longer than they have to.
I think the beta is the last thing they need to work on before it's released. I have a fealing that the game is done but they're just polishing up the game as best they can before it's released. The beta is simply to stress test their online portion because they know a s**t-ton of people are going to be playing this game at once.I really, REALLY hope that Halo 3 is like the original Halo. Halo 2 seemed like it was an Unreal Tournament mod with a campaign as an afterthought. Here's to hoping they'll actually do online co-op.
Well, from what we've seen it seems like Halo1 rather than Halo2 - which is a good thing.Kind of like how with C&C3 EA actually managed to not butcher it and go back to [some of] the original formula.
I was simply pointing out that the same people who are likely to want to buy the Xbox360 for Halo 3 (people who like FPS games) may have already done so when Gears of War came out. They know that Halo 3 will eventually make it out so why not pick up the console for Gears of War?I see the fanboi community took this as some kind of attack on the Xbox360's ability to sell well. So go f**k yourselves, and good day.

in any case, they're going to try to sell it before MGS4, or around that same time, along with a price-drop on some systems.
