techblog.dallasnews.com— That's right. Facebook says it now has 120 million members. By my reckoning, that's 2% of the world's 6 billion people.

Exactly. For every 100 things I read in my News Feed, or the hundreds of new photographs my friends upload each week... I may comment on 1 or 2 things. I just sit back and read.Facebook lets you hear what your friends are doing without them actually speaking to you. It's a great way to see at a glance what of all your friends are doing. Then there's the handful of close friends where it's easier to write a quick note on their Wall than compose an e-mail that says "Hey, call me"
this is very misleading as it gives the impression that most of the worlds population can afford internet - whereas in reality we Westerner's are a lucky elite protected in a bubble of civilization where as in reality there are loads of poor people, even, poverty on our doorsteps we avoid.facebook is full of fake accounts and the Internet is still classed as a luxury.I doubt one in 50 people in the Congo have a facebook account, they are too busy trying to fight for their lies and prevent starving to death.
Can you back this statement up with any sources? I'd be interested in sharing with friends who use facebook. Wired magazine recently published an article about how an Egyptian activist used fb to organize a anti-govt protest. When the police caught him they tortured him for his fb password!
Facebook is about having fun. It's about meeting girls, i'ts about meeting guys and whoever doesn't like it can go f**k themselves 'cause that's Facebook and that's what Facebook is all about
