Is it the Government's fault that those citizens misbehave? For fun go eliminate all the victimless crimes and you'll still see we have a high incarceration rate (in State prison, violent offenders account for more than 50% of the prison population, throw in property crime and you're at about 73%). I generally view the United States as having a high level of public order and a reasonably efficient judicial system, the expected result of that would be a higher incarceration rate than a place with inefficient police.http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/glance/corrtyp.htm

I am against Marijuana use as much as the next conservative, but look at Exhibit A: Prohibition. This outlawing of alcohol, an intoxicant used by peoples for many eons, caused people to pursue illegal sources, giving rise to organized crime. These "alcohol salesmen" became so used to evading the police, that they considered themselves above the law and thus began to use violence freely, and thus the most dangerous organizations, the mafia etc, were born. This parallels the markets for illegal drugs today...at some point, someone is making a huge profit that someone else wants and is willing to use violence to take it. Hell, opium derived drugs are funding the god-damn terrorists!I will add that I think maryjane and the more intense drugs do permanently f**k with your head. But maybe this is one freedom that should be allowed. Consider that, by allowing animal testing, we reduce harmful testing on humans. Conversely, by keeping the minimum wage high, we encourage "day laborers" and indentured servants (ie, illegal immigrants who live as servants in people's homes). anyway figure it out I am too tired to finish this

Education would be better if the government weren't in it. Feeding lies to the children through their Indoctrination Centers.

Who or what are "so fat cats"? The writer must indeed be on some sort of odyssey and I doubt his parents know he's even on the internet.

Legalize prostitution and tax it!The $5,000/hour escorts might have to lower their fees a bit, but as only politicians seem to be able to afford this high a rate, at least we might end up getting some of our own taxpayer money back in the end!Plus, if law enforcement spent less time and money chasing escorts and hookers, we just might not have as many as 500 murders a year in Chicago and its suburbs.Even here in Chicago, I've never read about a hooker walking around with an assault rifle, or ever using one, or ever even having one! Maybe she smokes pot and that makes her double bad!Give me a break! Go after the thugs who are shooting and killing people.

Gareth: I think you're right. The gap is increasing every day and the people salute it in their ignorance when they should be rioting in the streets so to speak. Why the f**k won't people wake up and get involved?Cleverhouse: close but it's Idiocracy!Jitterbits: That might aswell be the case but the only way to be sure is to compare what kind of laws have been added the last years to what type of crime is increasing. What ever happened to politicans being elected representatives of the people by the people ?
